Singer Melanie Schmidli and guitarist Martino Dessi - both known from our in-house production GEREIZTHEITEN, with Dessi also from DIVA BERLIN - devote themselves uncompromisingly and uniquely to the work of Kurt Weill,
a composer whose music has spoken of longing, resistance, and exile for almost a century.

KURT is an intimate concert evening – with voice, guitar, and stories moving between Berlin, Paris, and Broadway.
Dessi translates Weill’s music into a soundscape of jazz and cinematic, ethereal tones. Schmidli approaches the texts with a voice that sings, narrates, or contradicts – at times fragile, at times bizarre, but always immediate.

A program for all who seek stories in songs.
